Construction of The Old Picture House hits halfway stage

Our transformation of the former Regal Cinema in Lichfield city centre into premium apartments has reached half way stage, and nearly a third of these beautiful new homes have already been snapped up.

The steel work on The Old Picture House in Tamworth Street is complete, with floors being laid and work on the walls underway. Construction of the roof will begin in the next few days on programme for the building to be watertight by December.

When construction completes in Spring next year The Old Picture House will offer 38 prime one and two bedroom apartments, some with stunning views over Lichfield Cathedral.

Somerton Jones is delivering the £5 million scheme in partnership with Lodge Park Homes.

Somerton Jones director Warren Jones said: "This former Art Deco cinema has stood empty for more than 10 years and we are very excited about bringing it back to life - giving people the opportunity to live 'on location' in an iconic Lichfield building.

"We have sold 11 of the apartments off plan in just weeks, with customers ranging from first time buyers to investors and downsizers, all attracted by the city location and high quality of the properties."

Katrin Eindorf, sales and marketing director at Lodge Park Homes, added: “Lichfield is in great need of smaller homes and with these premium specification apartments we provide just that, marrying timeless style with contemporary design.”

Prices at The Old Picture House start at £150,000 for a one bed apartment. The government's Help to Buy scheme is also available, enabling first time buyers and people moving from their existing homes to purchase an apartment with just a 5% deposit.
